Everett shuts out Bellevue 3-0 in quarterfinal round

Everett shut out Bellevue in the quarterfinal round of the NWAC Soccer Championships Saturday. The Trojans scored all three goals in the second half, including forward Rachel Detroit, who notched her 12th goal of the year.

“(Rachel) just works 100% all the time.” Trojans head coach Geoff Kittle said about Detroit’s performance. “Her goals are the results of her working really hard and creating a chance. It’s all created through her hard work.”

The Trojans were tied with the Bulldogs at halftime, but the floodgates opened, with the first goal for Everett coming in the first minute of the second half.

“I never felt like they (Bellevue) were pressuring our goal much.” Kittle said.  We did feel like toward the end of the first half that we were possessing the ball really well and ultimately, if we stayed patient, and didn’t rush things, (we would be successful.)”

Everett moves on to the semifinal round against a strong Spokane team (20-2-0).

“I think it’s going to be a good game. They have good midfielders like we do,” Kittle said about Spokane. “I know they have a really strong center back and good goal keeping. They beat Highline, the one NWAC team that beat us this year. They’re definitely a good team. I like our chances though.”

Everett plays Spokane at 10:30 a.m. Nov 15 at Starfire Sports Complex in Seattle.
