Letter From the Editor In Chief 2015-2016

After a long and hot summer, it’s that time of the year yet again. This week, many people are headed back to EvCC for the first time since June, to begin Fall Quarter classes.  It’s a hard transition, switching out of the summer mindset and beginning school work again, trust me I know.  My summer was filled with concerts, hiking and a lot of sleep that I know I will be missing here in a week or two. At the same time however, I am ready to get back into The Clipper office and continue to work towards building a future for myself.

This is what I most love about EvCC. Students here are motivated; we come to school because they want to be here and have goals they want to reach. We come from many different walks of life, and all have different stories to tell about how we got here and where we’re going.  EvCC students care about the world around them, and want their voices to be heard. This year, The Clipper staff wants to celebrate EvCC’s diverse group of people, and show just how many we have making up our campus.

Along with the push to show more faces and opinions, The Clipper realizes that the news community is all moving to the digital space.  Because of this, we plan on working hard on our website and social media sites this year, to further connect with our readers, and meet them where they are at. While we still want to keep a strong print product, we want to create a strong web presence as well. If you’re not already reading this on our website, find us at www.everettclipper.com, Tweet us at @EverettClipper, or find us on Facebook.  We love it when people come to us with questions, comments or story ideas. Feel free to stop by our newsroom at any time during the school day as well, we are located in Whitehorse Hall, room 264. There is usually at least one journalist in there, and we need some socializing after hours of staring at computer screens.

And with that, here we go. I am excited to see where this year will take The Clipper, and can’t wait to hear what you think of it. Good luck on your first month of school, and keep working towards your goals.
