Jax Delosreyes, Managing Editor of Visuals
What interests you about journalism?
Simply, journalism is important in bringing information into the community, especially locally. Oftentimes we think of journalism as news organizations or radio stations, however the impact citizen journalism and sharing stories does to bring people together is another aspect that is important to note now more than ever. Whether the media is as truthful as it can be or littered with bias, it’s often a small blip into the current culture surrounding our media sphere and gives us a way to look back on history through the lens of being a human.
What is your dream job?
I don’t have a particular dream job, however I’ve always been interested in STEM, Arts, and Communication. Each one of these fields involves a fair bit of human curiosity and the ability to express those observations through a skilled and disciplined process. It’s all in the intentions and details, each one having meaning behind it and I’d love to nurture that.
When you aren’t doing things for the Clipper, what can you be found doing?
Outside of the Clipper, I can be found digitally drawing/animating, crafting something with clay or fabric, or slowly chipping away at stories I’ve been meaning to tell. When I’m not creating something, I like to play indie video games with friends. Some of my favorites are Outer Wilds (for its story), No Straight Roads/NSR (for its visuals), Sly Cooper (for its game design), and PEAK (for its community engagement).
