Trojan Baseball Splits Series with Skagit
The EvCC Trojans Baseball team came out strong in their first true home series against Skagit Valley at Everett Memorial on Sunday. A tough loss in the first game was followed by a stellar performance both defensively and offensively from the Trojans.
Offensive standout and EvCC sophomore Cam McGrath went 4 for 5 with 2 RBI’s, a double and a triple to fire up Everett’s offense just that much more. Trojan third basemen and freshmen Mitch Albin also contributed with three hits and an RBI, although every batter one through nine contributed well for the team.
A stellar pitching performance by sophomore Mack Larson also led Everett to the 9-1 victory. Larson only allowed three hits and gave up no earned runs in eight innings of shutout baseball. So far for this season, Larson has an ERA of 2.07 in 21 innings of pitching, along with a record of 3-1 in 7 games.
The only run Skagit managed to muster up came in the top of the ninth. Being the first game back in the newly renovated stadium, the Trojans are ecstatic to finally have a field that is resilient to this unpredictable Washington weather.
The Trojans’ next game is scheduled for April 17th at Skagit Valley Community College.
