The Clipper

What interests you about journalism?

I’ve always sought a creative medium, and I found it in writing. It’s a way for me to express myself, and I want to turn it into a career. The best way to do that? Start writing articles to get my name out there and improve my craft. Hopefully, The Clipper’s the start of a bright and prosperous path forward for me.

From where do you get inspiration?

For me, whenever I get stuck on a piece and don’t know where to go, I have ways to lift myself up. For example, I’ve held onto a list of my proudest accomplishments over the years, which I look at every so often. It’s a reminder not just of how so far i’ve grown from a dark place, but that the possibility of reaching even greater heights is possible.

Which words or phrases do you most overuse?

Honestly, I’ve probably overused every word in the english dictionary. If i’ve gotten one criticism for my writing, it’s that I always break the maximum word limit and write way too much, to the point where I don’t know where to cut back. Hopefully, future me will have learned to shorten the endless tangents and inane ramblings that always pop up in my work, though I'm not betting on it.

What is your most treasured possession?

For me so far, a lot of my most treasured possessions are shared among my family. Christmas ornaments are, surprisingly, a big deal in my household and we introduce new ones to the tree all the time, but they never replace the ones received when me, my brother and my sister were young. The most beloved is a pair of ornaments, two frames containing photos of me when I was a baby. One with my mom, One with my dad. If those were ever to break, my heart would probably break with them honestly.
