EvCC Men’s Soccer Prevails Over Shoreline

The Trojan Men’s soccer team beat Shoreline by a score of 4-1 on Wednesday at Shoreline. While the Trojans dominated, the match was hotly contested, with physical play, plenty of fouls and several yellow cards.

“I’m happy with the result,” said Trojans Head Coach Eric Cruz. “We had come out from a loss against Whatcom and today we just brought our game, we came out hard, we came with heart and we ended up scoring the goals.”

Freshmen forward Aaron “Gregor” Byrnes continued his goal scoring form, scoring a brace in the 10th and 74th minute while teammates Siloe Galvan and Hyun Shoo Shim scored their first goals of the season.

The victory comes at a crucial time during the early phase of the regular season, with key players succumbing to injuries and reserves stepping up. During the first half, Trojan goalkeeper Drexel Cordoba had to leave the match due to injury and was replaced by Erik James who put on a stellar performance in goal.

“I was going to be ready for anything”, said James,” We’ve been struggling with injuries.”

Despite the injuries, Aaron “Gregor” Byrnes feels confident in the team’s chemistry.

“Having team chemistry earns trust out in the field. As you get to know your players you know their style of play,” said Byrnes.

The Trojans looks to continue their winning ways on Saturday as they travel to Skagit to take on the Skagit Valley Cardinals at 7:30pm PT.
