Finals will be here before you know it. It’s time to get your study on.

Finding the perfect study place is key to having a successful study session. Many EvCC students have their favorite study place on campus, do you have yours?

Everyone is different when it comes to finding their favorite study place. Tony Coemente, an EvCC student, likes to study in Liberty Hall because it is where he had studied when he was in a different program here at EvCC. He says, “It’s like my natural habitat.” Many EvCC look for a place they feel comfortable to study.

Christina Russell, an EvCC student, likes to study in the library because there is easy access to computers, it’s quiet and she can ask the librarians for help.

Brittany Scott is slightly different. She likes to study in the Parks Student Union where it is a little bit noisier, but is a place she can always run into her friends. Taking a minute to talk to friends can be a great study break.

Tayler Fabian, an EvCC student and Christina like to study in Gray Wolf Hall. Tayler says “…there are no distractions like there are at home.” Distractions can make it extremely difficult to study.

Many students have their own study tricks. Tayler says, “Focus on the main ideas.” Tony likes to study right after class when the information is fresh in his mind and Brittany likes to use flashcards.

Cynthia Clarke, a professor at EvCC, says, “Use office hours, consistently.” She also suggests using Quizlet, which is a free, online resource.

David Walker, another professor at EvCC, says, “Do your best to take good notes, but most importantly read and edit your notes after class that same day.”

EvCC students agree, the most important part to finding the perfect study place is finding somewhere you feel comfortable. Whether that is in the tutoring center, the library or in your favorite building on campus. Are you ready to get your study on?
