Vincent Austin, Staff Reporter
What is your dream job?
My dream job is to write thoughtfully for money, whether that entails becoming an author, a journalist or even a vlogger. My passion lies in the power of words and the influence they’ve held through the course of history.
What interests you about journalism?
What interests me in journalism is speaking truth to power, or telling compelling stories to the masses. I want to be a watchdog in the profession; not only do I want to thrust a spotlight on the casual misuse of power, but I also want to cover the stories of altruism. Covering sports and the climate are both dreams of mine, too.
What is an issue or topic you are interested in?
I’m very much interested in the future care of our Earth. All around I see an incredible apathy, especially from older generations, regarding climate change. The naked truth is that our families, our bloodlines and our children all have to sustain in an Earth that is already deprived of many of its natural resources. What are we to do with a global ecosystem in ruin?
On a different parallel, I’m also a huge sports fan. I love the spirit of competition and the meritocratic idea of giving something your all. I love football, basketball, and baseball equally in terms of the stories they produce. Humans have been obsessed with stories since we learned to communicate, and modern sports produce the most flavorful stories to date.
Go Trojans; Go Seahawks; Go Mariners; Go Timberwolves!
