Fall Fun: Family Farms

In Snohomish County, there are various family farms that open specifically for fall, and fall only. Each farm has attractions, and specializes in a particular area. The highest recommended farms in Snohomish County by EvCC students were Carlton’s, Stocker Farm, Thomas Family Farm, and Bob’s Corn.

Starting with the closest to the college is Carlton’s, 630 Sunnyside Blvd., Lake Stevens, a third generation family run farm. From weddings to a day in the pumpkin patch, you can do it all right here. Carlton’s specializes in their homemade goods. A trip into the market place will wow you. Throughout the store there are handpicked fruits, homemade butters and even cheese sauces. Along with an open atmosphere, the people who work in the market place are super sweet. You can also find your very own EvCC students working here.

Heading over to Snohomish you can find 3 family farms, Stocker Farms, Thomas Family Farms, and Bob’s Corn.

Stocker Farms, 8705 Marsh Way, Snohomish, although open the least out of all the other farms, tries to find a way to give back to the community. Their corn maze this year is partnered with Strong Against Cancer, and the proceeds from it will go to the foundation. None of the other local farms have partnered with a charity. You can have fun and help out at the same time.

Now you could say it may be obvious, but Bob’s Corn, 10917 Elliott Rd, Snohomish,  has the best sweet corn out of the family fun farms. With 12 different planting each spring, there is no doubt that you will always get freshly picked corn. Not only is there fresh corn daily, there is also the chance to have freshly roasted goods. From a fresh roasted honey crisp apple topped with ice cream to spaghetti and acorn squash.

The last family farm is Thomas Family Farm, 9010 Marsh Rd, Snohomish, where you can find an EvCC student working. Thomas’s is most known for its seasonal haunts. This year you can find a zombie paintball hayride, haunted house, and Flashlight clue book corn maze. Some haunts have an age requirement of at least 8 years old or above. For more on the haunts at Thomas,  look at a fellow EvCC student’s story about being a paintball zombie “Blast Me In the Face: When Seasonal Jobs Get Weird.”

Family farms are some serious fun. From the fall pumpkin lover to the person looking for a fright, the wide range of farms in Snohomish County have you covered.
