Elizabeth Muñoz, Staff Reporter
What interests you about journalism?
I came from Cuba, where there is one newspaper and its run by the government. No one is held accountable; no one speaks truth to power. I always found stories about journalists relentlessly reporting something that made a difference in a huge way, like The Watergate Scandal or the Pentagon Papers. It gave me so much faith that good can prevail is we hold people to the truth. And today more than ever that seems incredibly important.
What issue or topic are you interested in?
The plight of the marginalized has always been something really important to me. I grew up in the 80s where AIDS was leveling the queer community and no one cared. It formed how I would look at things from there on.
When you aren’t doing things for The Clipper what can you be found doing?
When I am not working for The Clipper you can find me at my sewing machine. I have been sewing since I was 7 years old. Creating things from textiles brings me so much joy.
