What is an issue or topic you are interested about?
WOMEN’S RIGHTS! As a woman, surrounded by women and those suffering from the inflicted terrors of a toxic patriarchy and a thoroughly misogynistic culture, there is nothing more obvious nor more important to me. I am very passionate and I expect even peers to be held accountable for ignorance. Women have been silenced all of history and to this day we are treated as a non-human subclass of people, lacking consciousness and validity as living, breathing, thinking and feeling beings. I refuse to be silenced or deemed not “feminine” for being outspoken and passionate about this subject. It is everyone’s responsibility to take part in change.
What is your dream job?
My dream job is to become a Peace Corps Volunteer (PCV). Essentially, a government volunteer contracting program to provide humanitarian aid to countries all over the world. I’ve always loved to help others, and coming from an underprivileged community my goal is to be the solution to many problems and hardships of all groups of people. I want to be the person that can help shape or even save someone’s life, and provide them with the support and resources they need to be successful.
How does the Clipper fit into your long term goals?
Since my biggest goal is to promote social change and join the Peace Corps, I believe that the Clipper and the journalistic experience it will give me will help develop important skills I may need in the future. Powerful writing, integration of journalistic photography, media literacy, time management and communication skills are all aspects that I hope to grow in. I’m also here to make new friendships and feel more involved in the EvCC community!
