Student of Color Career Conference Coming to EvCC
Spring break is approaching and with that EvCC is hosting the 14th annual Students of Color Career Conference (SOCCC.)This year it will take place on March 24, 2016 from 8:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
SOCCC is planned and coordinated by the different staff in the Diversity & Equity Center. With the help of many volunteers, many of them EvCC students, the conference targets a unique experience for students of color in middle school and high school around the area.
This year’s keynote speaker will be Dr. Derek Greenfield, Professor of Sociology and Director of Diversity & Engagement at Alcorn State University. During the conference, there will also be career panel sessions hosted by professionals in the STEM field who are of color, financial aid and scholarship information, prizes, food, entertainment and most importantly scholarships will be awarded.
