“Ronaldo”: A Review out of This League

February 15, 2016

After waiting four months, the documentary “Ronaldo” directed by Anthony Wonke, was finally released on DVD. Just the fact that Cristiano Ronaldo was going to put out his life out there for the whole world to see was pretty fascinating. I was also very pumped because of course there was a lot buzz going around in social media about this documentary.

I rarely see films out there featuring athletes, but this documentary was different. In Ronaldo we get to see more than the soccer star most of us know. I got to see the true bother, son and father he is.

The quality of the documentary was very high, at times I felt that I was there. The thing that I enjoyed the most was watching parts of the soccer game against Barcelona. Not only because of the rivalry between both of the teams, but also because the videographers really showed parts that soccer fans don’t get to see during the regular soccer game.

However, I do have to say that the documentary has highs and lows. At times it’s really exciting, but other times it’s just a bit dry.

“Ronaldo” is a must watch film if you are a soccer fan, regardless of the slow parts in it. It really doesn’t matter if you are a Ronaldo fan or not, at the end of the film you will realize that it isn’t easy to be a soccer star. Overall I would give “Ronaldo” a 3.5/5 stars.
