“Daddy’s Home”:The Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg Comedy Knockout Duo is Back
January 25, 2016
From the comedy duo that busted your guts laughing in “The Other Guys,” comes the new movie Daddy’s Home which takes on the table flip concept of a father and step father competing in “a good ol’ fashion Dad-off” for the love of their kids.
“Daddy’s Home” is a movie that can be interpreted differently depending who’s watching it as a kid with step parents the idea of them competing for affection was a strange pill to swallow, that being said this movie knows exactly what it is and knows exactly how to make you laugh.
I found myself constantly having to flip a coin over who to root for between the cool, edgy, and muscular biological father ‘Dusty’ played by Mark Wahlberg and the dorky, straight edged, by the books average man stepfather ‘Brad’ played by Will Ferrell.
This movie has some poor uses of CGI, besides that this movie delivers in what you would expect out of a movie like this: to tug some heart strings, bust a gut laughing, and walk out of the theater with a new found appreciation for parental struggles. Surprisingly, this movie had a much unexpected soundtrack playing hit songs from the late 90’s to the end of the 2000’s which was a nice nostalgic touch for me.
In the end I would give “Daddy’s Home” a 3/5 stars and would recommend this to anyone out to the movies looking for a good genuine laugh.
