Geoff Kittle named Coach of the Year, five players named NWAC All-Stars

Women’s soccer head coach Geoff Kittle was named Coach of the Year and five Trojans players were named All-Stars by the Northwest Athletic Conference Wednesday.

Forward Lauren Allison, midfielders Kelsie Neill and Victoria Lentz and defender Emily Nelson are first time All-Star recipients. Defender Mikayla Whitton received her second All-Star award as a Trojan.

“It’s all about the players,” Trojans head coach Geoff Kittle said about being coach of the year.  “It’s cool that (the NWAC) recognized me on that but it wouldn’t have happened without these players coming here to play and these players performing outstanding this year.”

Meet the All-Stars

Lauren Allison, Forward:

“It’s a really good feeling … to have a really great team to play with this year. My teammates were a big part of it.”

Kelsie Neill, Midfielder:

“It’s an honor to be a freshman and make the (All-Star) team. It’s a big deal.”

Victoria Lentz, Midfielder:

“It’s really cool to be a part of the NWAC All-Stars and I’m really honored. If I didn’t have the team to back me up I wouldn’t have made it there. It was all because of them.”

Mikayla Whitton, Defender:

“It’s an honor and a big accomplishment and to do it two years in a row. The fact that I have everyone around me and my teammates helping me, it’s a great year.”

Emily Nelson, Defender:

“It’s really exciting to be an NWAC All-Star. I love the team this year and the chemistry we had and I’m looking forward to the finals.”

The Trojans will play Spokane in the NWAC women’s soccer tournament semifinal round at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Starfire Sports Complex in Tukwila.
