The Everett women’s soccer team are primed for the NWAC soccer playoffs semifinal against Spokane Saturday.

“I think we’ve been more focused this week then all the other weeks,” Trojans head coach Geoff Kittle said in a post-practice interview Wednesday. “I think the level and intensity of practice has been outstanding which is scary cool.”

The Trojans looked composed at practice, which composed of an intersquad game. Play was crisp from both teams.

“We worked on some possession and some finishing,” Kittle said.  “Kind of schemed up a little bit of what they might do (Saturday).”

Kittle said that the next step for the women’s soccer program would be to win a semifinal match, which hasn’t been done in the history of the team.

“We’ve been to two (semifinals), but we haven’t won one,” Kittle said. “It feels different this year. I feel like we’re the team to beat this year. It felt like we had to play a perfect game to win the semifinal the last two times, but this time I feel like if we play good, we’ll win.”

Everett plays Spokane in the NWAC semifinal round at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Starfire Sports Complex in Tukwila.
