Throughout history, numerous groups have had their rights trampled on in America and now, history teacher, Jeffery Gentry, plans to tell you exactly how it happened in his upcoming book entitled “The Others; Marginalized Americans and Their Constitution.”

His book is a historical non-fiction about Americans who have been marginalized throughout history. Americans like Women, African-Americans, members of the LGBT community, and so on. Gentry feels that “The constitution was made to give rights not take them away.” Which is exactly why he plans to show how these minorities have had their rights taken away and how long of a process it has been giving those rights back to most of them.

Gentry started writing his book five years ago because of inspiration he found inside his classroom. He was inspired by the book he teaches in his history classes titled “Give Me Liberty.” “Over the years of teaching this I have seen the liberties taken from these different groups,” he said, and that made him want to write about it.

Currently writing the last chapter, Gentry is hoping to see his book published in 2016 through a big publishing house like oxford press. Gentry is dedicating his book to his friend, Kyle Caringello, because Gentry says “he lives his life on his own terms.”
